Meet our founder
Alka was born and raised in the heart of Delhi, rich in historical significance with a unique blend of traditional and cosmopolitan styles. Her family encouraged art, music and creativity, and fostered her entrepreneurial spirit. As a youth, she purchased unusual, unique handmade clothing, and sold it door-to-door in her neighborhood.
Today, she continues to work with skilled artisans, offering their beautiful works to a larger audience worldwide.
Alka’s extensive experience in the apparel and home industry spans nearly three decades and two continents. Her employment with several of India and China’s premiere textile manufacturers honed skills in fashion, designing, production, sales and marketing.
This global journey introduced her to all levels of retailers and connected her to diverse teams and markets.
Her desire to create unique and innovative products for the home led to the establishment of Alka's own brand, Naki + Ssam in 2023. Her brand celebrates the beauty of artisan-created inspirations that create a sense of calm and tranquility in living spaces. Naki+Ssam products feature rich, vibrant colours, natural, high-quality materials and artistic patterns.
Naki+Ssam’s brand philosophy is to create beautiful pieces that are environmentally friendly, ethically made and that will last for years. She wants to inspire others to make conscious choices and contribute to building a more sustainable world.
